About this project
Have you ever walked into a photo gallery or art show, trying so hard to figure out what the artist was trying to say? What if we simply let go of that pressure and focused on our own experience of the artwork?
My wife, Camellia, and I have traveled to so many places together, but even when we stand in the exact same spot, we see things differently. Even after more than seven years together, our perspectives remain uniquely our own. This project is all about that—how we each see the world in our own way, shaped by our backgrounds, experiences, and personality.
To me, photography is more than just capturing moments; it’s a way to connect with others and appreciate diverse perspectives. As you may notice, there’s a contrast between my photographs and my wife’s text. This reflects how two people can share an experience yet interpret it in entirely unique ways.
Ultimately, this book isn’t about finding a single meaning in an image. It’s about embracing those differences—whether in how we perceive, feel, or interpret the world around us (or even how we read this book). I hope as you flip through these pages, you bring your own experiences into them and notice details that I may have overlooked when I photographed. Because that’s the beauty of perception—we all see things a little differently, and that’s what makes it interesting.
